Dr. Chris Stuart, PhD
Advisor, Molecular Medicine & Cancer Biology
Dr. Stuart is driven by the idea that the work he does should make a difference in people's lives, be that bringing exciting products to market that can be used to diagnose disease, or developing cutting edge research with academics that can be used to understand the underlying mechanisms of disease. Dr. Stuart's research passion is improving the therapeutic index of drugs by specifically targeting the delivery to the sites in the body where they are needed.
Dr. Stuart has over a decade of biomedical research experience in both academic and industrial settings. He earned a double major in Biology and an American Chemical Society approved degree in Biochemistry from Berry College. He earned his PhD from Wake Forest University in Molecular Medicine and Translational Science, where he gained experience in preclinical chemotherapeutic development and the challenges involved with translating discoveries at the bench to the patient bedside. His work targeting chemotherapeutics to malignant cells with DNA aptamers resulted in his recruitment into the industrial space, allowing his work to be more rapidly deployed to the marketplace.
Since joining the industrial space Dr. Stuart has managed teams of scientists that have brought innovative products to market including diagnostic tests, extraction and purification kits, and research tools. He is currently the Manager of Research and Development at Omega Biotek, outside of Atlanta, GA.
