MICHELLE ROBERTS

Advisor, Pharmaceuticals & Medical Device

Michelle began her career in sales in 1998 with Wyeth Pharmaceuticals marketing and educating health care providers in the areas of cardiology, gynecology, infectious disease, gastroenterology and psychiatry.  Upon an acquisition of Wyeth, Michelle followed her career to a more specific path in gastroenterology and psychiatry where she further developed a strong understanding of the human body systems, how they work and how drugs are used and metabolized by the body.  Michelle’s passion is in neuroscience and gastroenterology, focusing on the gut-brain axis for mental health.  The nature of the interaction between the gut and the brain in mental health and illness is very complex and is far from being completely understood but she closely watches recent breakthroughs in research showing that taking care of our mental health may lie in our microbiome.  Michelle is currently marketing a pharmaceutical drug for tardive dyskinesia and an injectable for schizophrenia.

Michelle grew up in Edgefield, South Carolina and graduated from Columbia College with a degree in Speech Language Pathology. After working several years with intellectually disabled children, she became a flight attendant with United Airlines where she worked internationally for five years.  During this time, she lived in Los Angeles, Denver and Washington DC and she traveled extensively growing a worldwide network of friends and colleagues.  Eventually, South Carolina called her home where she became the Director of Annual Fund for Columbia College, developing donors and raising money for scholarships.  As her love for sales and relationship development grew, she began her career in pharmaceuticals.

Michelle lives in Columbia, South Carolina with her husband Troy. They have two daughters and a German Shorthaired Pointer named BoMac.  During her free time, Michelle enjoys anything outdoors.  She has a love for horses and enjoys riding and just being in their presence.  She volunteers with equine therapy that involves facilitating relationships between horses and humans and is working to complete certification as a therapeutic riding instructor.
